Leave and Let Us Go presents a portrait of Iraq, a country so often misunderstood and misrepresented. The culmination of my work across Iraq, the book combines my own photographs with an archive of roughly 350,000 images and videos collected from more than fifty people across the country, alongside family photographs dating back to the 1920s, interviews, found objects, newspaper clippings and images recovered from found mobile phones. Together, these materials build a multigenerational and deeply personal view of Iraq, challenging and expanding the ways geopolitical events and the people who live through them are represented.

Published by GOST Books in 2021, the 324-page book accompanied a solo exhibition at FOAM, Amsterdam, and the wider project has since been exhibited internationally.
