CURRENTS
As conflicts continue to rage, as climate change forces people out of their land, as food scarcity becomes ever more dire, migration becomes a constant for our globalized world. With this ongoing work, I am hoping to expand on the underlying tension, tragedy and anonymity that migration carries with it. Migration is not always the moments of chaos, it is not always boats crashing into the shore or bodies being found. Migration is waiting. It is sitting endlessly for months. It is walking hundreds of kilometers. It is loneliness and uncertainty. This work looks at the moments between the chaos.
Currents began in 2015 and is still ongoing, from the coasts of Turkey, across Greece, through the Balkan Migration Corridor.
